Credibility
At the heart of LNG liquefaction is an integrated refrigeration cycle: the compressor supplies the mechanical energy to circulate and pressurize the refrigerant, while the cold box’s heat exchangers transfer heat from the natural gas to the refrigerant, cooling and liquefying the gas.
Within this integrated refrigeration cycle, LNG throughput depends on the refrigeration duty delivered to the cold box, which in turn depends on the available capacity and stable operation of the mixed-refrigerant and propane compressor trains. Anti-surge controls must protect these machines while preserving their usable operating range. An overly conservative control margin can increase recycle and constrain production; an insufficient margin can expose critical equipment to damaging surge. Balancing protection, efficiency, and throughput is where control engineering delivers measurable value, and where Innova Technologies brings decades of centrifugal compressor experience.
For over 50 years, we have engineered control systems for compression service across LNG, LPG, NGL, refrigeration, natural gas, hydrogen, and other process duties. Our work spans liquefaction trains, storage and boil-off handling, regasification, and peak shaving plants, with hazardous area engineering and IECEx certification supporting equipment installed in classified areas.
Applications
Anti-surge and capacity control on the main refrigeration compressors, with mole weight invariant anti-surge algorithms and adaptive surge detection that recalculates the surge line in response to measured surge conditions. That matters more in LNG than almost anywhere else, because refrigerant molecular weight and suction conditions change with ambient temperature, feed gas composition, and load.
ESD logic implementation, safe isolation, and blowdown sequencing configured to the operator's emergency response philosophy, with fire and gas detection interface. The operator defines the shutdown and blowdown philosophy and owns the regulatory position. Innova implements and documents the control logic that follows it, keeping system execution aligned with the customer's defined operating and compliance requirements.
Integrated boil-off gas (BOG) compressor and recondenser control for LNG storage and regasification terminals, combining automated compressor sequencing and capacity control to maintain tank pressure with recondenser control coordinated with LNG send-out flow to maximize BOG recovery and minimize flaring.
Real-time performance calculations including polytropic head, efficiency, and distance to surge give operators continuous visibility into compressor performance and operating margin. These calculations help the operating team understand how the machine is performing as process conditions change while keeping protection and usable compressor capacity in view.
The compressor control strategies are engineered together with whatever drives the machine: gas turbine control with full fuel and sequencing scope, steam turbine governing for mechanical drive service, or variable frequency drive interface and load management for electrically driven trains. Speed, guide vanes, and recycle are coordinated together rather than treated as separate systems.
Panel design and fabrication for classified areas to ATEX Zone 1 and Zone 2, IECEx, and NEC Division and Zone practice under IEC 60079, including intrinsic safety barrier design, explosion-proof enclosure design, and purge and pressurization systems. Equipment is engineered for the requirements of the installation and supported by Innova's UL-listed panel shop and in-house hazardous area expertise.

A MESSAGE FROM JOHN KAZOUR, CEO
To our customers and partners,
For more than 50 years, our team has helped customers keep critical operations running. We built our reputation as Petrotech by taking responsibility for control systems on important rotating machinery.
As more industries came to us with similar challenges across power generation, compression, and hydro applications, our engineering team kept finding ways to solve them. Eventually, the business outgrew the Petrotech name.
We are entering our next chapter as Innova Technologies. The new name reflects the full scope of our work as a rotating machinery control systems specialist. We engineer controls around the machine, deliver complete projects from design through commissioning, and provide support that stays with the problem until it is solved.
Our name is changing, but the people, engineering experience, and commitment behind the work continue. Our responsibility to active projects and installed systems carries forward under the Innova Technologies name. Your current contacts remain the right place to start, and we will communicate directly if an administrative record requires an update.
We appreciate the trust you have placed in us over the decades, and we look forward to continuing that work as Innova Technologies.
CEO, Innova Technologies
