Credibility
A refinery never sleeps. FCCU air blowers run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, because shutting them down means shutting down the most valuable process unit in the complex. Wet gas compressors face process upsets and liquid carryover. Hydrogen compressors punish every engineering shortcut. These are not forgiving applications: they demand control systems engineered for the demands of downstream refining.
We have been engineering turbomachinery control systems for petroleum refineries and petrochemical complexes for over 50 years. We have modernized obsolete centrifugal, axial, screw, and reciprocating compressor control and protection systems, turboexpander controls, and capacity and anti-surge control systems at major refineries and petrochemical facilities, improving process stability and operational efficiency. We engineer decoking control systems, a specialty application that few controls companies worldwide can credibly claim. We bring that same application-specific control engineering approach to every downstream project, with control strategies tailored to your machine, your process, and your operating requirements. Programmed to IEC 61131-3 on commercial platforms, our systems give customers long-term flexibility and ownership, full access to configuration, calibration, and application logic to operate, maintain, and expand.
Applications
The most challenging compressor application in refinery service. We provide advanced surge avoidance with control strategies designed for process upsets and liquid carryover, recycle valve coordination optimized for two-phase flow conditions, KO drum level interface, and anti-surge logic tuned for the variable molecular weight gas streams typical of FCC and coker overhead service.
Anti-surge and capacity control for refrigerated separation and recovery systems in ethylene and propylene production, including multi-stage compressor coordination, integration with inter-stage cooling systems, and the precise suction pressure control that determines separation efficiency in refrigerated fractionation.
Steam header pressure management and distribution control, integrating with let-down stations, desuperheaters, steam turbine drivers, and process steam consumers to maintain stable steam balance across the refinery utility system.
Precise airflow management for fluid catalytic cracking unit regenerators, where combustion air control is essential to maintaining regenerator temperature, catalyst activity, and overall FCCU performance. Our blower controllers provide tight flow control, anti-surge protection at low loads, and coordinated response to regenerator temperature disturbances.
A unique Innova specialty. Our delayed coker decoking control systems automate the complete drum switching sequence, from drum steam-out and quench through coke cutting and drum preparation for the next cycle. Valve sequencing logic is interlocked with pressure, temperature, and level signals to ensure safe, reliable drum transitions that protect personnel, equipment, and coke drum integrity over thousands of cycles.
Interface between compressor and turbine control systems and refinery-wide fire and gas detection networks, including safe-state logic design that brings machinery to a safe condition in response to F&G events without creating additional hazards through uncontrolled process upsets.
Safe, reliable control for high-pressure reciprocating and centrifugal hydrogen compressors in hydroprocessing service, including hardware selection and control panel design for hazardous areas, high-integrity ESD logic for hydrogen leak detection response, and rod load monitoring for reciprocating compressors handling hydrogen and hydrogen-rich recycle gas.
Speed and load governing for steam turbine drivers throughout the refinery, including extraction turbines serving cogeneration applications, back-pressure turbines driving compressors and pumps, and condensing turbines on the largest driven equipment.
Replacement of obsolete compressor controls, governors, anti-surge systems, and turbine control platforms while preserving proven field instrumentation and minimizing process downtime.
Hydrocracker and hydrotreater recycle compressor control with coordinated quench flow management, maintaining the hydrogen partial pressure and temperature profile across the reactor bed that maximizes catalyst life and product selectivity.
High-pressure crude charge pump control with cavitation protection, minimum flow management, and emergency shutdown logic, plus product pump control for refined product transfer operations with flow-based rate control and automatic equipment changeover.
Hydrocracker and hydrotreater recycle compressor control with coordinated quench flow management, maintaining the hydrogen partial pressure and temperature profile across the reactor bed that maximizes catalyst life and product selectivity.

A MESSAGE FROM JOHN KAZOUR, CEO
To our customers and partners,
For more than 50 years, our team has helped customers keep critical operations running. We built our reputation as Petrotech by taking responsibility for control systems on important rotating machinery.
As more industries came to us with similar challenges across power generation, compression, and hydro applications, our engineering team kept finding ways to solve them. Eventually, the business outgrew the Petrotech name.
We are entering our next chapter as Innova Technologies. The new name reflects the full scope of our work as a rotating machinery control systems specialist. We engineer controls around the machine, deliver complete projects from design through commissioning, and provide support that stays with the problem until it is solved.
Our name is changing, but the people, engineering experience, and commitment behind the work continue. Our responsibility to active projects and installed systems carries forward under the Innova Technologies name. Your current contacts remain the right place to start, and we will communicate directly if an administrative record requires an update.
We appreciate the trust you have placed in us over the decades, and we look forward to continuing that work as Innova Technologies.
CEO, Innova Technologies
