Power Generation and Hybrid Grid Control Systems

01 — The Capability

Generation, switchgear and SCADA have to behave as one system.

Innova Technologies supports utility-scale and mission-critical power generation through engineered control systems, generator automation, power management integration, SCADA visualization, medium-voltage switchgear interfaces and cyber-secure industrial communications.

Typical scope covers multi-generator control, power-management automation, LV and MV switchgear interfaces, redundant SCADA, industrial networking, cybersecurity and renewable grid integration.

02 — The Situation

Remote and islanded grids have no margin for uncoordinated generation.

Remote and mission-critical power stations require stable generation, controlled synchronization, clear operator visibility and resilient power management across multiple generating sets and switchgear assets.

Hybrid and islanded grids add further complexity, because diesel generation, wind generation and future battery storage all have to be coordinated without compromising supply security.

03 — The Challenge

Coordinating machines that each want to be the one setting the frequency.

Synchronizing, load sharing, dispatch and load shedding are separate problems that share the same electrical system. Add renewable generation and storage and the coordination question gets harder, not easier.

04 — The Approach

Plant-level automation that owns dispatch, switching and visibility together.

Innova designs generator control panels, plant common control panels, PMS, PCS and SIS platforms, remote I/O and operator interfaces supporting manual and automatic generation operation.

Typical functions include generator status monitoring, start and stop sequencing, synchronizing, load-sharing interfaces, alarm handling, spinning reserve visibility and load-shedding configuration.

Medium-voltage switchgear integration

Control and monitoring interfaces for generator feeders, bus sections, transformer feeders, bus couplers, NGR systems and outgoing feeders.

Power-management architecture

Plant-level automation coordinates generator dispatch, switching status, alarms, interlocks and remote I/O across the generation facility.

SCADA and operator visibility

SCADA provides plant overviews, alarm management, generator status, electrical parameters, historian functions and engineering access.

Industrial networking and cyber security

Fiber-optic communications, managed switches, firewalls and server infrastructure support secure and resilient plant-wide communications.

Renewable and hybrid integration

Wind generation visibility, solar PV and battery storage interface philosophy, and state-of-charge information brought into the same operator picture.

A MESSAGE FROM JOHN KAZOUR, CEO

Welcome to Innova Technologies

To our customers and partners,

For more than 50 years, our team has helped customers keep critical operations running. We built our reputation as Petrotech by taking responsibility for control systems on important rotating machinery.

As more industries came to us with similar challenges across power generation, compression, and hydro applications, our engineering team kept finding ways to solve them. Eventually, the business outgrew the Petrotech name.

We are entering our next chapter as Innova Technologies. The new name reflects the full scope of our work as a rotating machinery control systems specialist. We engineer controls around the machine, deliver complete projects from design through commissioning, and provide support that stays with the problem until it is solved.

Our name is changing, but the people, engineering experience, and commitment behind the work continue. Our responsibility to active projects and installed systems carries forward under the Innova Technologies name. Your current contacts remain the right place to start, and we will communicate directly if an administrative record requires an update.

We appreciate the trust you have placed in us over the decades, and we look forward to continuing that work as Innova Technologies.
